Bach Motets, Bruges - Credit: Tim Theo Deceuninck

Bach Motets

Solomon’s Knot performs entirely from memory — a practice that shapes the ensemble’s relationship to the music at a fundamental level. Polyphonic transparency, ensemble balance, and the precise articulation of Bach’s contrapuntal lines emerge not from a conductor’s direction but from the singers’ deep internalisation of the text and music together.

From the jubilant Singet dem Herrn to the consoling Fürchte dich nicht, from the sprawling architecture of Jesu, meine Freude to the luminous double-choir writing of Der Geist hilft — four of Bach’s greatest motets, sung by heart.

Music written for the dead, pulsing with life.

Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750)
